Help Waste Not in a very timely and important
opportunity! They urgently need to purchase a new refrigerated truck to
ensure they can continue to make uninterrupted deliveries of hope and
sustenance to thousands of hungry people throughout our Valley.
Two of their refrigerated trucks - in our fleet of
five - have clocked more than 200,000 miles and are now requiring expensive
repairs. In response to a $50,000 grant request for a replacement truck, the
Wal-Mart Foundation has issued Waste Not a challenge grant in the amount of
$25,000 for the purchase of a new vehicle, asking them to find matching funds
to complete the purchase within the next two months.
By working together they can make this
happen! Please help them reach their goal of $25,000 in matching funds.

Waste Not has been providing a one-of-a-kind food
rescue service since 1987, transferring food from those who do not need or want
it to those who do. Today, more than ever, the simplicity of our program
resonates deeply within our community. The refrigerated trucks are the
backbone of our operation. They are on the road six days per week,
collecting an average of 6,000 pounds of fresh, perishable food per day from
111 food donors with 151 "pick-up" points. Their drivers make
"same-day" deliveries to more than 100 diverse agencies and
organizations that feed the hungry including schools, after-school programs,
day care centers, senior facilities, transition homes, homeless shelters,
veterans facilities and rehabilitation facilities.
