All You Want To Know About Me (& probably more than that)
For those who know me...please don't tell everyone all of those stories (especially the true ones!)...

For those who don't...nice to meet ya' and here's the 411 on Russ Knight...

Birthday - August 30th
Birthplace - Tucson, Arizona
Height - 6' 2"
Weight - 225lbs
Eyes - Green
Hair - Brown Hair
Education - Bachelors Degree in Telecom from Northern Arizona University
Moved to Phoenix April 15, 1981

Career:     Moved to my home with KNIX Country on October 9, 2006
(Yes...a day I  will celebrate every year from now on!) after 15+ years in country radio!
Owner & President of Knight Flight Professional DJs...

providing professional DJs for weddings, corporate and private parties and other events since 1983.  Info avaiable at www.knightflightdjs.com
Plus, I've been DJing Country Music in nightclubs in the valley since I moved here in 1981....currently at Whiskey River Saloon (32nd Street & Greenway) every Wednesday & Thursday night...come party with me!

Parents:    John (retired Col. U.S. Army, Green Beret...my role model) 79 and Margie (who passed away on 3/16/07 and is most likely presiding over God's kitchen in heaven and currently whipping Him up another batch of her delicious cookies!)
Sibs:    One awesome sister Kathy who is a leader for Young Life (Christian Ministry), married to Dick Mason (who happens to be the best dentist in Scottsdale, yes...I am biased!) and is just a terrific guy!  They have four boys Matthew (who is married to the lovely Catherine and made me a "Great Uncle" on 7/30/07 with the birth of their son Richard Jackson Mason!!), David, Daniel & Michael.  All of them are outstanding young men and taller than their Uncle Russ!
Children:    One incredible daughter, Karissa, 14, who is the absolute Joy of my
life...my only claim to ever doing anything right!!

          Here's Karissa & Jesse!

Marital Status:    NA (as in Never Again)...two time loser...on the marital short bus!
Home:     Bought my Dream House in Glendale in February 2005
Pets:       Jesse, an Australian Shepherd, who will turn 3 on July 29th and makes us laugh every day.
Hobbies:    Fishing (especially in the Ocean), Dancing (Country, Hip Hop & Reggae...I know, weird combo), Playing Sports (Basketball, Football, Softball), Huge San Francisco 49er Fan (some would say more of an obsession) and I like to collect autographs for my daughter.
Passions:    (1)  Trying to be a good servant to God (I fail at this a lot but pick myself up and try again...I'm grateful to Jesus for the chance to do that every day.)  As for church, we are going to Radiant Church in Surprise and I like it but it is quite a drive from where we live in Glendale...with gas prices what they are, I wouldn't mind finding something closer to home.  (2)  Time with my daughter!  (3)   My occupation (would call it a job but c'mon now..reallly!)  (4)  This great country of ours and the protection of our freedoms for my daughter and her generation...and then...just being a good father, a good son, a good brother, a good uncle, a good great uncle, and a good friend.

Favorite Food:    Mexican (the original Garcias Las Avenidas on 35th Avenue
between Thomas & McDowell) but a good steak comes in a close second.
Favorite Drink:    Milk, Diet Coke or an occasional (again...hold your stories
please) adult beverage - Bud Light, Lancers Wine or Purple Hooters!
Favorite Music:    Country...DUH!...but I also like R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae (go
figure) and old Motown stuff.
Favorite TV Shows:    Must watch "24", and "Desperate Housewives"
Favorite Teams:    Football - 49ers (I bleed Scarlet & Gold)...& the only pro team in Arizona "GO RATTLERS"!!
Basketball - Gotta LOVE Our Phoenix Suns!!!
Hockey - Coyotes
Favorite Vacation Destination:    Not a "mountain guy", if I'm vacationing there
had better be a beach involved!  But if I do go to the mountains...there had better be someplace for me to fish!!  Favorite place so far, Jamaica!  I've been there 8 times...and will be making it 9 this August!  (See- "Get Into Reggae Cowboy Trip" and you can come join us for the party of your life!)
Favorite sound:     My daughter's laughter!
Favorite smell:      Women's perfume, especially anything by Victoria Secret!

Sgt. Jared Martin served two tours of duty in Iraq and received a Purple Heart for his heroic actions. He served as a squad leader with the Marine Corps for 1/2 Charlie Company out of Camp Lejeune. Jared is now back home safe with his family and friends, who are forever grateful to him!

CARE PACKAGES FOR THE TROOPS A BIG HIT

Thank you, thank you, and thank you for standing up for our troops so generously during our "From the Front Lines" telethon.  We raised over 1.5 million dollars so far; we're still shipping out packages faster than ever before.  We have been working 7 days a week with the most dedicated volunteers in getting the packages shipped every week.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS WORKING UNDER UNBEARABLE HEAT

You can still sponsor packages by going to our Campaign Store website and ordering CLICK HERE TO SPONSOR A PACKAGE.  Be sure to include your message to the troops so we can add it to the label of the products we are sending.

The Iraqi summers are brutally hot.  Temperatures are still regularly well over 100 degrees and sometimes going over 120.  And, our troops are burdened down wearing 25 pounds of body armor while on duty.

Our care packages of Gatorade, jerky, lip balm, cookies, baby wipes and other items have been arriving, and the letters are starting to pour in with gratitude from the troops for the gifts that so many of you have sent.  They love the wonderful notes people have been sending with the goody boxes.  We have to keep it up.

When you sponsor a care package, it shows a deployed US service member that people at home have not forgotten the extraordinary conditions that they work in every day or the extraordinary tasks they tackle on our behalf.  Besides providing both enjoyable goodies and useful products like sun block and deodorant, the messages you send result in a huge morale boost for the troops getting the packages.

Thank you so much for your support of Move America Forward and our troops.  Please CLICK HERE to sponsor a package.

It's important that those serving are reminded of our appreciation and encouraged as they fight for our country, and sending them food items and products to make them a little more comfortable while they're deployed is the least we can do.
